Thrift Report: Labor Day Weekend

Hello friends!

I hope everyone had a fun and relaxing Labor Day weekend!  It's supposed to be summer's last hurrah, but here it felt like the dog days, with temps soaring and insane humidity.

I didn't do much ~ just caught up on some stuff that had piled up during my crazy summer, hung out with the fam, and [duh] did a little bit of thrifting. Just a little, though!

Here's a quick roundup of my finds:

I picked up all of this in just two thrift stores. My favorites are the wood-and-tin Chinoiserie wall panel and the sweet little ceramic aqua blue Cronin skillet. The depression glass cake plate is going to my mom, and I'm going to resist the urge (somehow) to keep that brass ginger jar.

The Dansk candle holder was a nice find, too. I scoured every nook and cranny in that thrift trying to find its mate, but apparently there was only one.

Did you do any thrifting this weekend?  Our thrifts were absolutely PACKED, but I think that might have had more to do with the heat and everyone trying to find a cool place to hang out.

Wishing you all a happy (and short!) week!

xoxo

    1. Thanks, Joann! Our thrifts aren't really that amazing...there's just a LOT of them, so the odds are in my favor!

  2. Love the color of the skillet and that cake plate is gorgeous. You really scored! I went through junking withdrawals this weekend.

  4. Love your brass finds. Very impressed with your ability to resist that darling ginger jar. Oh, and I have the mate to your Dansk candleholder! I did the same thing too, searched the store high and low looking for another.

  5. Wow Heather! Great finds...I found 3 vintage pillowcases. Mickey & Minnie, Warner Bros and 101 Dalmatians...not too exciting at all! But your stuff...is great...I'd love to find the roly poly glasses somewhere, sometime!

  6. I have yet to find any Dansk candleholders, and it might be better that way, because I'm positive I would HAVE to keep them :) You had a great weekend of thrifting. I did not go out as my best friend was visiting and Sunday was my boy's birthday. It was nice to be free to do other things.

    1. I'm glad you had a relaxing weekend, Beatriz! This is my first brass Dansk...it's so beautiful in person - much heavier and larger than I expected. I must NOT keep it! ;)

  7. Hi Heather! Just recently found your blog and etsy shop (love them both!). I did manage to hit up a few thrift shops and an estate sale this weekend...nothing too exciting. I found some marble bookends, a brass umbrella jewelry holder thing (ha!) and a milk glass vase. Nothing as fab as your brass ginger jar...which you should totally keep. ;-) Have a great week!

  8. I have to know what thrifts you go to since I know that we're from the same area! Or maybe you want to keep it a secret?? :) Great finds!

    1. Happy to share! :) The stuff in this post came from two Goodwills in Noblesville. I probably tend to do the GW rounds the most, since there seems to be one on every corner. I like the Broad Ripple one a lot (close to my house). I think the ones in older areas tend to have the best stuff - more vintage; fewer baby clothes and strollers. :)

I also like the Salvation Army on the far east side, though it can be scary. Also City Thrift on the east side. Some of the antique malls around here also have amazing deals, as I'm sure you know! I like the one in downtown Carmel. And - of course - Midland. If you haven't been there, you must go immediately! :)

  9. Love the chinoiserie sculpture myself. No thrifting for me but I did manage to score some fab chrome chairs at a yard sale. I love the thrill of the hunt!

  10. Dang heat! I'm soooooooo over it! Great finds for only visiting two packed thrifts. The depression glass is really pretty. I love how fancy that stuff is. And that skillet is super cool. I've never seen one like that before.
