Thrift Report: Back At It!

I've been enjoying a really mellow, relaxing weekend ~ exactly what I needed!  The weather has been storybook, crisp, and sunny. Perfect for a little thrifting!

I picked up a few little gems I wanted to share today...

I broke my "no ashtrays" rule for this little guy. How could I resist the glowy brass and nautical vibe? It's sooo heavy--the perfect paperweight. Or dish to hold spare change and jewelry. Love at first sight.

I'm kind of obsessed with ginger jars right now, and I N-E-V-E-R find them with their lids. I picked up this pair at two different Goodwills about a mile apart. They're old -- heavily crazed -- but  no chips or cracks (miracle). I had to pay separately for one of the lids (oh GW...*sigh*) but it was worth it.

One of my favorite little junk shops had a ton of pretty silverplate at GREAT prices this week. I snapped up this elegant pitcher [I love the feet!]...

...two enormous Revere bowls (three, actually, but I only snapped two for the photo!)....

...and finally, this lovely coffee service. I especially love the pinecone finial on the lid!  Looks like I'll be spending some quality time with the ol' silver polish this week.

Last up, I found this pretty opaque black glass serving set.

This is actually black amethyst glass -- it has a luminescent purple tone when you hold it up to light -- and I believe it's the Mt. Pleasant/Double Shield pattern by LE Smith. Isn't it perfect for Halloween? I'd like to serve something scary, like green jello "brains" in it. :)

I actually found several other great things while I was out and about this weekend, but I haven't had time to photograph it all yet, so I'll share the rest later. Wishing you all a lovely week!

Hello, friends.

Apologies for the radio silence; it's been a busy month!  September has been a roller coaster of emotions for me.

First and foremost, I was away in the Pacific Northwest for nine days to attend the amazing wedding of my little brother. It was truly one of the loveliest weddings I've had the privilege to witness...lots more on that later, but here's a sneak peek:

I also celebrated a "significant" (ahem...) birthday, though I'm happy to report it was less painful than I thought it might be...partly thanks to the blissfully perfect cake.  :)

{The gory aftermath...}

Sadly, my family lost our beloved bullie girl Gracie last week, very unexpectedly, which definitely threw me for a loop after the high of my Washington trip.

She was sweet as sugar and loved everyone...never complained...and snored like a freight train. I'll miss her so much!

I figure I'm due for a nice, calm stretch after the highs and lows of this past month. Fall is one of my favorite times of year, and we're enjoying a perfect, crisp and sunny stretch here in Indy right now. I'm ready to settle in and relax for a bit. How about you? Are you enjoying fall where you live?
